Message & Voice Banking
What is Message Banking?
Message banking refers to the process of recording and preserving you own words, phrases and sentences spoken in your natural speech. These preserved messages are incorporated in a Speech Generating Device (SGD) and are available to use when verbal speech is no longer reliable.
What is Voice Banking?
Voice banking refers to the process of recording a set of messages using your own natural speech and using these recordings to create a synthetic voice that approximates your natural voice. This synthetic voice can be incorporated into an SGD to create novel messages when verbal speech is no longer reliable.
Who can benefit from message and voice banking?
Anyone who is at-risk for changes or loss in the ability to speak can benefit from these processes. Common populations include those with diagnoses of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Multiple Sclerosis, or other neurodegenerative disorders. Individuals undergoing medical treatments and procedures that pose risks to their ability to speak can also benefit from these processes.
